From the Motherland

From the Motherland

Distance can never erase the bond between a people and their homeland. "From the Motherland" is a heartfelt journey across continents, oceans, and generations—back to the heart of Africa. This blog is our way of building bridges between African culture and its global diaspora.

At MyRoots, we know that for many Black and African-descended people around the world, the connection to Africa is spiritual, emotional, and sometimes mysterious. You might not know the village your ancestors came from—but you can still feel the beat of a djembe drum echo in your chest. You might have grown up in a city far from the continent, but African style and spirit show up in your taste, your voice, your vibe.

This blog will feature stories that celebrate those connections. We’ll spotlight voices from the diaspora—entrepreneurs, artists, everyday people—who are finding ways to express their African identity wherever they are. We’ll share guides to African-inspired living, from fashion to food to family rituals, and show you how to infuse your home and lifestyle with the essence of the Motherland.

Wherever you are, you belong. Africa lives in you.
